What Is Menopause And Tips On Managing Its Symptoms - Causes :- Natural Remedies.

What Is Menopause

MenopauseMenopause is defined as the ending of the menstrual cycle due to the advancement in age of the species that experiences such cycles. Many people refer to the onset of Menopause as "the change of life". Typically, the onset of Menopause occurs when the ovaries cease to produce estrogen, which will eventually be the cause of the reproductive system shutting down. When this process begins to occur Symptoms such as hot flashes, mood swings, Depression and lack of mental focus are quite common. Additionally, women can experience a need to urinate frequently along with vaginal dryness and erratic menstrual cycles.

The duration of Menopause typically lasts for about a year but can range anywhere from six months to as long as five years. Usually, menopause is simply something that occurs due to an advancement in age although it can also be brought about by procedures such as a hysterectomy or by the start of illnesses such as cancer.

The average age of women suffering from menopause is about fifty years old however, there are many cases of younger women experiencing menopause at younger ages. This is often defined as premature menopause and some instances premature menopause is brought about by disorders such as thyroid disease or diabetes. A very interesting fact concerning premature menopause is that many fraternal as well as identical twins suffer from menopause around the age of forty. Health care professionals have not yet totally discovered the reasons for this occurring. Women that are post-menopausal have an increased likelihood of developing osteoporosis and it is recommended by many doctors that they begin taking some type of calcium supplement.

The following are some extremely common Symptoms of those that are suffering from the onset of menopause. Women can experience hot flashes, chills as well as night sweats and other disruptions in normal sleeping patterns. Vaginal itching, bleeding in addition to incontinence and the need to urinate frequently are also very common Symptoms of menopause. Many women also experience mood swings, high irritability, decreased sexual desire and slight memory loss. Women over the age of fifty are warned against the dangers of osteoporosis once they have reached post menopause.

There are several ways in which women that are experiencing menopause can find relief from the symptoms that they are experiencing.

Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) is a very common treatment for those suffering from menopause. However, this type of treatment raises some arguments from some health care professionals. Some in the medical field believe that HRT is not very effective and can cause more harm than good to women undergoing treatment as many have experienced side effects such as heart problems related to the treatments.

A change in the dietary habits of some women have shown to have produced a reduction in the symptoms commonly associated with the onset of both premature menopause and menopause. Adding a comfortable exercise routine to compliment the positive dietary changes has been able to produce even more beneficial results in the treatment of menopausal symptoms.

Some women that have been diagnosed as going through menopause have chosen to treat their symptoms with herbal remedies such as black cohosh and red clover. Others have increased the amount of calcium that take to help ward off the effects that menopause can have on their bones.

The best possible way to be able to handle and treat either the onset of menopause or premature menopause is to become well educated on the subject. Ask your doctor all the questions that you can think of and never be afraid of asking a question you might think is silly. If you have friends or relatives that have gone through menopause talk to them about their experiences and the things that they did to treat their symptoms. The Internet is a plethora of information about both menopause and the treatments used for its symptoms. You may also be able to find online support groups if you find yourself needing some support in dealing with this change in life. Being well informed will help you be able to make the choices that are going to be the most beneficial to you whilst treating menopause.

Depression and Natural Medicine - Cure : Natural Remedies : Symptoms.

Depression and Natural Medicine

depressionDepression is not to be taken lightly. It can totally ruin peoples lives and affect everyone in their close family. What people need to realise is that people suffering from depression can actually view life differently which in turn can make them feel isolated from other people. Some signs of depression, but by no means all are: weight loss, disturbed sleep, unable to concentrate, tiredness, suicidal thoughts, self harming, lack of self esteem? Scientists have proved a genetic link for depression. People that have had close relatives suffering from depression have a more than 1-3 chance of suffering from depression themselves.Chemistry is another natural cause of depression. Serotonin is a naturally produced Neurotransmitter. Your body also produces a stress hormone called cortisol. Depression can occur when there is an imbalance of Serotonin and Cortisol which Causes an imbalance of other neurotransmitters. Stressful lives produce extra Cortisol which Causes a reduction in the production of Serotonin and thus causes depression.

Whatever has caused the depression, it can still have profound influence on the way you live your life. But how do you treat it? Medical practitioners are usually very quick to prescribe medication to help 'life your spirits', commonly known as anti-depressants. Unfortunately these can have some nasty side effects whilst taking them and some very unpleasant withdrawal effects when you stop the medication. However, I am a firm believer that nature has a Cure for all ills and treating depression is no different. Relaxation in the form of meditation or yoga have been proven to help reduce anxiety and calm the mind. If done regularly they can also help alleviate depression. Natural Herbal Remedies have been used for centuries with great success in reducing the Symptoms of depression. The most common plant is St Johns Wort (Hypericum Perforatum), which has also earnt the nickname of 'natures prozac'. Passiflora is also one of natures best transquilizers.

More and more people are now turning to the natures own remedies. This is obviously because of their effectiveness in relieving the Symptoms of depression but it balances the chemicals in the brain, it also rejuvenates the mind and body. They are also free of side effects both during use and after. So if you do suffer from depression or just feel down on yourself and need something to perk you up then before you make a visit to the doctors and start pumping pharmaceutical drugs into your system, give the Natural Remedies a go - you may be very surprised by how fast they work and how good you will feel. All with no bad side effects. I have written this article, amongst others, to try and highlight the beneficial properties of natural remedies. Depression Help Without Drugs - Symptoms : Cure :- Medicine.

Depression Help Without Drugs

depressionMany forms of depression do not need anti depressant drugs for successful treatment. You should always check with your doctor, but if you are taking anti depressant drugs for depression and would like to eventually stop, or if you are having some depression but don't want to take drugs for it, you can often defeat depression on your own. In what ways can you go about this? There are three methods you can try, all of which can help you to beat depression without lifelong drug dependency. The first method is to get talk therapy. We all know about it. Talk therapy has come a long way since lying back on the couch, and has a good success rate providing depression help. This comes from the fact that most types of depression are emotionally caused, not physically caused. Talking about your feelings is a powerful method to heal yourself more naturally and work through the emotional Causes.

A second way to remedy depression naturally is with dietary changes. We all know that if we eat too much junk food we soon start to feel "junky." Unfortunately, the normal diet in developed countries is full of processed junky foods that may fill our stomachs but actually rob us of good nutrition. For example, many people notice help for depression in two days by just giving up on refined white sugar in their diet. The dark mood swings of depression are often accentuated by the blood sugar swings caused by this white powder. A third approach to natural depression help is to do emotional "body work." You could say that just as you have a physical body, you have a mental body as well. This is kind of obvious. But you also have an emotional body that processes emotions like the mental body processes thoughts and ideas. Each of our three "bodies" is interconnected. And each of them requires their own forms of exercise and nutrition for optimal health.

So just as we need to exercise our physical body with walking or dancing, we need to exercise our emotional body. Learning emotional body work is not hard, and there are several exercises you can do in just ten minutes a day to strengthen your emotional body. These revolve around exploring various emotions rather than resisting them, and learning to be more accepting of our whole range of emotions. There is not enough room in this short article to go into more detail, but if you want treat depression naturally without drug dependence, you can find out more about any of these three methods and likely meet with great success.

You can also discover more about defeating depression by getting the book Defeating Depression In Minutes. John Stephan Laney has been teaching courses on emotional and relationship intelligence for over twenty years. You can find out more about healing depression naturally at Self Help for Depression.

Depression in Men - The Silent Killer | Cure - Symptoms | Causes.

Depression Is The Silent Killer

The Presenting Problem

depressionWhen Mindy got into depression trouble, her mother, Sharon, came to me for help. Sharon took off from work to come to the appointment but her husband did not come. That in itself was not unusual. But Sharon reported that he was not interested in dealing with the depression problem and she was afraid to push him. I kept these facts in the back of my mind as I explored the family history and listened to Mindy's hesitant description of her life at school and home. I wondered what role her parents played in her current depression  problems. As I got to know the family better, I was finally able to convince her father to come with his wife for the benefit of their child. Mr. P was a physically large man, with a quick smile and laid back attitude. He contrasted sharply with his wife, who was thin and tense. Mr. P denied any depression problems at home but a quick glance at his wife told me otherwise. Over time I learned that Mr. P was unemployed and had not worked consistently for many years. His wife worked full-time and was afraid to cut back because of the loss of benefits and the fear that they would need her salary to survive. Mr. P often overslept and left the morning routine to his wife, who was under pressure to get to work on time. She tried to get him moving but was afraid of his anger, especially in front of the children. He refused to meet with their Rabbi, although she had spoken privately to the Rabbi more than once about their situation.

Meanwhile, the P's maintained a charming social front. They attended family events, sent their children to mainstream schools and told no one outside of the tuition committees of their financial situation. Their families worried but expressed their belief that the depression situation would improve soon. The P's started coming on a regular basis to aid in the depression treatment of their daughter and to discuss issues at home. They were caring, loving parents. But they struggled with more than financial problems; Mr. P was suffering from years of untreated depression .

Causes of depression in Men

Mr. P's illness and the resultant family issues are unfortunately a common depression occurrence. Men are taught from a young age to suffer in silence. They are supposed to be strong and self-reliant, with their wives and children leaning on them for support. Their sense of duty compels them to produce at work, then come home and pitch in where needed. What if a man cannot meet these expectations? The pressure to succeed may overwhelm him and engender feelings of low self-esteem and helplessness. Joel heard through the grapevine that his company was merging with its competitor and that there would be massive layoffs. No one knew who would stay and who would be dismissed. He didn't want to worry his wife so he didn't say anything. But he would often awaken in the middle of the might feeling anxious and unable to sleep.

There are times when a man feels vulnerable or scared but does not want to admit it. He may feel unproductive or inseCure at work; he may question his competence as a husband and father; or he may compare himself to his peers and find himself wanting. Nevertheless -by dint of his nature or societal expectations - he is unlikely to talk about his feelings. He feels that he should be able to solve all of his own problems. Needing help is viewed as a sign of dependency which, in turn, is seen as a weakness. If he has a problem, he tries to hide it. Meanwhile, no one - not even his wife - understands what is happening. While she may want to talk about the situation, her husband avoids the discussion and resents being nagged about it. He is physically uncomfortable when pushed to discuss these emotional hotbeds. He dreads the possibility that the light will be shined on him and he'll be "found out." Indeed, trouble in marriage is consistently linked to depression in one or both partners.

Aging, in particular, challenges a man's feelings of self-sufficiency and can lead to depression. Max was doing very well in retirement until his wife passed away. Then he began to withdraw. He didn't answer phone calls or invitations from old friends and began to lose interest in attending family celebrations. He neglected his hygiene and clothes, didn't care what he ate and became reticent and withdrawn. Depression, it is important to note, is not a normal part of aging. On the other hand, the significant losses that occur in the twilight years are keenly felt and may trigger depressive symptoms. Hence, when an older man seems to lack energy or lose his appetite, he may be exhibiting signs of depression. Finally, a man might think that he's just "in a bad mood" and will soon snap out of it. While it is true that everyone has times in their lives when they feel irritated or unhappy, depression is deeper and lasts longer. It becomes a thick cloud that darkens one's entire life. If the depression persists or intensifies, a man can be at risk for more serious complications.

Symptoms of Male Depression

Men who are depressed are more likely to talk about their physical state than their emotional or psychological one. They may visit their family physician, who focuses on their high blood pressure and unhealthy life style, but may not ask the questions that will yield clues to their emotional suffering. Their mental illness remains undetected. Actually, the term "mental" or "emotional" illness is a misnomer. Depression is a medical disorder - just like diabetes and high blood pressure are medical disorders - that affects a person's thoughts, feelings, physical health and behaviors.

To complicate the picture, depression is often viewed as a "woman's disease." According to the Wall Street Journal (4/24/07), "twice as many women as men are diagnosed with depression, fueling the belief that depression is a woman's health issue." This imbalance in rate of identification may occur not because there is a difference between the genders in the prevalence of depression but rather in its manifestation. Early on, men who are depressed do not appear weepy and sad. Only in the more severe stages of clinical depression do men and women display similar symptoms.

How dare you wake me up! Don't you know that today is the only day that I can rest? Don't I work hard enough the rest of the week to give you everything that you want? Unpredictable bouts of explosive anger are telltale signs of illness. These Symptoms may or may not be signs of depression; only a licensed professional can properly diagnose the cause. But psychologists have observed that "(depressed) men are more apt to be irritable and angry - moods that aren't included in the classic diagnostic tests. Their sadness and helplessness are hidden behind a mask of anger." (Readers' Digest, January 2007, p. 132).  For this reason, many physicians now routinely screen their patients, both male and female, for depression. For example, one effective screen for depression consists of only two questions, as follows:
  • During the past month, have you often been bothered by feeling down, depressed or hopeless?

  • During the past month, have you often been bothered by little interest or pleasure in doing things

A response of "yes" to either of these questions indicates the need for further exploration and possible referral to a mental health professional. Responses of "no" to both questions, without any conflicting evidence, significantly reduce the likelihood that the person is depressed. Thus there are tools to detect depression in men. But, as with most illnesses, the signs that there is a problem often appear before a visit to a professional. Increased education and awareness about its Symptoms are the key to preventing the consequences of depression. A man's friends and relatives are in the best position to notice that something is wrong. They may observe that he seems anxious and irritable, or unusually quiet and unable to talk about things. He may complain about vague physical Symptoms or report that he is performing less well at work. He may feel tired all the time, appear unable to concentrate or make decisions, and express disinterest in being with his family and friends. He needs help.

Consequences

The risks of untreated depression are very serious. When a man is depressed his personal and professional lives suffer. In his quest for relief he may turn to other means to help himself. He'll plunge into his work, take an extra drink or two at meals and in-between, or look to food or drugs as a source of comfort. These ad hoc remedies lead to worse troubles. He may destroy the very relationships that he seeks to protect and cause irreparable damage and pain. He will also jeopardize his health. A man who is depressed may have difficulty with concentration or memory. In a study published this month in the scientific journal of the American Academy of Neurology, those individuals who most often experience negative emotions such as depression were 40 percent more likely to develop mild cognitive impairment (MCI). MCI, which is characterized by short-term memory loss, can be a predictor of Alzheimer's disease.

Depression has also been linked to heart disease and strokes even when controlling for all other risk factors, such as cigarette smoking. Depressed men are at 80% higher risk of having "sudden cardiac death." Overall, men with depression are more than twice as likely as men without depression to die of any cause. Equally frightening is the fact that suicide rates are four times higher for men than for women. Older men, age 65 and beyond, have higher rates of completed suicide than older women. Hence it is crucial that men receive treatment for their illness. It is the job of our society to change its view of mental illness as a character flaw, sign of personal weakness, or lack of faith. Depression is not the same as sadness and a person cannot will himself or herself out of it. Depression is an illness that is real, that is treatable and that can be fatal.

Treatment

Do not ignore your spouse's moods and behavior. If he seems to exhibit any of the symptoms outlined above, be sure to discuss your concerns with a trusted health professional. A referral to a mental health professional will lead to an evaluation as to whether the person is indeed suffering from depression as well as its level of severity. Either or both therapy and psychotherapeutic medication may be recommended. It has been found that certain types of therapy, such as cognitive-behavioral and interpersonal therapy, are highly effective means of treating depression. When medication is used as an adjunct, the patient is able to utilize all of his resources to learn coping skills that will strengthen him in the present and minimize or prevent future bouts of depression.

The sooner that a person obtains help, the better the outcome. This applies not only to each individual instance of depression, but also to the long-term prognosis. In general, the younger the person and the fewer the number of depressive events, the greater the likelihood that his treatment will be successful. Even when there is not a complete recovery, however, both medication and therapy are invaluable tools to minimize the suffering from this illness. Finally, there are very important self-care strategies that men can undertake to help themselves. Many men are saddled with responsibilities. They are under constant pressure to perform - at work, at home, in their learning and in their relationships. As they continue to produce, day after day and year after year, it is not surprising that they end up neglecting their health.

So encourage your husband to set aside time regularly to engage in mental and physical activities that enhance his well-being. If possible, put the younger children to bed before he sits down to eat so that you may be able to join him. At the very least take walks together. Protect your time with each other; it is precious and too easily lost. Increase your husband's awareness about the importance of healthy eating and sleeping habits. Persuade him to set realistic goals in all areas of his life. Then acknowledge and applaud him as he achieves each objective along the way. Educate yourselves about depression; read and listen to the widely available material about this illness. Finally, seek treatment for him and, if needed, for yourselves as a couple. Don't allow depression to overshadow the joy of living.

Depression Hurts - Medicine - Causes : Cure - Symptoms :- NaturalRemedies.

Depression Hurts

depressI suffered from the classic version of depression. I started with bouts of it when I was seventeen, but it wasn't until my late thirties or early forties that it got so bad that I had to seek help. Over the years doctors prescribed anti depression Medicines like Zoloft, Prozac, Paxil, Lexapro, and Wellbutrin. I got a little relief, but the anti depression pills made me so tired all I could do was lay around and then I put on weight, which made me more depressed. So I decided to try a natural approach. Here are the steps to recover from depression:

1) I can't stress this one enough. Drink WATER, WATER, WATER, and more WATER! Drink approximately half your weight in water in ounces each day. (ex: If you weigh 150 pounds you need to drink 75 ounces of water a day). Your water should be bottled or filtered water. If you are a soda drinker, cut back, better yet, quit drinking that STUFF! If you are a soda drinker, start using soda as a special treat. When I was growing up in the mountains of West Virginia. We only made it to the grocery store a couple times a month, but when we did go we were allowed to get a bottle of coke. What a treat, and that's the way it should be. It has no nutritional value and only makes you fat. Do not and I repeat do not drink diet soda! I have done research on the artificial sweeteners that they use and have found information that artificial sweeteners can cause brain tumors. Soda is a tough one for me, because I love Cocoa Cola, so if I do drink a soda I drink regular. If you are a coffee drinker, drink your one cup in the morning to get you going then no more the rest of the day.

2) Use a natural anti-depressant. I have used prescription anti-depressants and as I said before, I did get a little relief from my Symptoms but I gained thirty pounds on the prescription drugs, which made me more depressed because of the weight gain. I gained more weight than when I was pregnant. There are a lot of side effects to consider when you take prescription drugs. I do not want to have to worry about the side effects on top of my illness. Make sure the ingredients are herbs for depression. I've tried a lot and some work, some don't. Unfortunately I have found there is no magic pill. It's pretty much trial and error, as everyone's body chemistry differs. I take them still and my husband says I'm a whole lot nicer to be around and I have a lot more energy. My spurts of anger and mood swings have all but vanished. Something that my husband is very happy to see gone! He'll even remind me to take them, less I forget!!

3) Use good Multi Vitamin Supplements. Don't buy these at department stores, but instead buy them from a store that specializes in natural vitamin supplements or online from a reputable company. I buy mine from the company in the above link but there are a lot of good online companies. Just make sure they're natural and have been tested.

4) Other vitamins and supplements that you need are a good fish oil supplement that has your Omega Oils. You can also buy a Flax seed oil that has the omega's in it.

5) Eat a good healthy diet. I will tell you here to start using as many natural and organic products as possible. All of the chemicals that they put in our food are making us sick. Try to buy meat that is organic or has not been injected with hormones and chemicals. We women are already having to deal with our own unbalanced hormones. We do not need the ones that they give to the cows and other animals in our system making things worse. Try to get vegetables and fruits that are organic. If you can't afford organic, buy a fruit and vegetable wash that removes the wax and chemicals from the produce. Try to eat the deep colored fruits and vegetables they have more of the good nutrients in them.

6) Exercise. This is a hard one. When you are depressed, the last thing you have is energy to exercise, but you need to exercise to get your energy back. A catch 22. Start out slowly, even if it is only a ten minute walk or ten minutes on your treadmill. Something is better than nothing.

7) If you are a woman and are near menopause, use a Natural Progesterone Cream. I am 44 and use one. There are a lot of god ones out there but make sure it's natural and not synthetic. I have noticed that my mood swings have subsided and no more hot flashes, but it does take about three months of using the cream to get results.

When you suffer from depression, it is a tremendous battle, but it is one worth fighting. My family had to put up with so much during my severe bouts of it. depression hurts your relationships. I would get mean and say hurtful things, then cry all the time. I would spend weeks in bed at a time. On my good days I work, read, and do research about depression. I hope that my information will help you. It may take some time, but you will get a handle on it and if you treat it with natural products, a healthy diet, pure water, and exercise, you will be able to keep a handle on it.

Remember, if depression hurts you depression hurts everyone around you!

So please seek depression treatment and help.

Depression Management - Depression Symptoms :- Natural Remedies :Cure :- Medicine.

Depression Management

DepressionWhilst managing depression, it helps to understand it. In this article lets talk about symptoms. I have heard people with Depression say that they can 'feel it coming on.' I would have to concur. You can almost feel it approaching like animals can sense an oncoming rare eclipse before they suddenly disappear.

What are the symptoms?

Depression Symptoms are varied but most people experience one or more of the following. The Symptoms (for some), often represent an almost complete change of character and create possibly the maddest thoughts you have ever had. Because they are so way out, self destructive, self obsessed and often illogical Depression Symptoms come laden with guilt for added measure.

Self loathing and worthlessness.

Depression encourages that creeping feeling of worthlessness. Suddenly you feel that all your contributions so far have been worth nothing. YOU are nothing. Every one else is so much better and could someone explain the point of you being here at all?
This is backed up faithfully by thoughts of:

Suicide.

In the lowest points of Depression I have gone through many variations of suicide attempt in my head, (aside from actual attempts) and uselessly scored them on their viability. Have you?
  • Which would hurt the most?
  • Which would be quicker?
  • Which would be more economically sound for the person who found me, (re carpets and all!)
  • Would you really feel the 'thud' if you fell off a building...
I mean totally crack-pot stuff right? But this is the absolute stark reality of depression. As a sufferer I would prefer it to be understood for all it's mental bullying glory without sugar coating it, because I believe that exposing it's dark power and understanding it rather than masking it with medication, as seemingly always the first step, is the most resilient way to try and control it.

Sleep.

You either sleep an awful lot, (more guilt for feeling lazy), or hardly sleep at all. You might find, like me, that it becomes a bit of a vicious circle where you can't summon up the energy to eat therefore you lose more energy and end up sleeping too much, thereby getting weaker and weaker and more despondent. But it is this vital life-energy that you get from activity that is required to create the oxygen to whizz around your body that you actually need to fight the depression....the most natural way.

Weight changes.

Then there are weight fluctuations as a result of depression causing your lack of appetite or causing you to gorge on food.

Lack of enthusiasm.

This one is hard. It is the symptom that makes 'the shiny, happy people,' (the non sufferers of depression), eventually lose patience with you 'for not trying'. From experience they fail to understand that it is merely another manifestation of depression, just as tooth ache is a symptom of poor gums or rotting teeth, neither of which you can just choose to stop immediately, without treatment. Unfortunately, the things that depression makes you do creates other issues that make you feel even worse. I do feel there is hope, (but bear in mind that I am writing this article in an up cycle!) Sometimes...just sometimes, current Cures are obscured by a medical or financial agenda that is not naturally kind to us or our systems, which is why I try to seek out and trial transparent remedies that have no agenda other than to help our highly intelligent bodies work WITH us to make us feel better.

Remember, you are not alone!

If depression plays any part in your life I encourage you to check out some natural, simple solutions to depression and managing depression that work for me and many, many others.

Simplicity is always the best way to try and solve a problem without creating another long term one.

Winter Depression Symptoms

DepressionThe weather is wet and windy, the days and nights are dark and gloomy and the hot summer days are another year away. For many the winter months can dampen a mood but for others it can lead to outright depression. Known as seasonal affective disorder this winter Depression is generally thought to be related to the darker days that occur during the winter months and those with this type of Depression experience Symptoms such as difficulty waking up in the morning and wanting to sleep longer then usual, have an increased appetite that often leads to weight gain and generally feel down beat and unmotivated day after day. For others Christmas day itself is an especially depressing time of year. For most Christmas is a time filled with warm welcomes, laughter with friends and family and plenty of eating and drinking with an optimistic view of the following New Year. Two classic Symptoms of depression are a loss of interest in previously enjoyed activities and social withdrawal and when feeling depressed finding the motivation to get involved in the festivities and force a smile can be difficult if not impossible for some. For those with depression in the winter who have few friends or family Christmas day is often spent alone and isolated and consumed with feelings of loneliness, worthlessness and overwhelming sadness with thoughts such as 'the world would be better of without me' and 'life isn't worth living'.

Help and Treatment for Winter Depression:

For those with seasonal affected depression using a light box for a few hours a day has for many been highly effective in eliminating or at least reducing their Symptoms of depression. Antidepressants are also commonly prescribed for those with seasonal affected depression as they are for those with depression in general. These do however take a number of weeks to take effect and for some the side-effects from medication is intolerable and discontinued. For those that can not tolerate the side-effects from prescription antidepressants or for those with mild to moderate symptoms of depression using Natural Remedies for treating depression may be effective in brightening their mood. For those that do not suffer from depression but feel concerned about someone who does then the best advice is to show them you care, invite them around for a Christmas meal and drink. If the offer is declined make the effort to phone them Christmas day and remake the offer and remind them you care. Making the offer whether accepted of declined can make all the difference.

Child Behavior Problems

DepressionResearchers at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, PA released the results of their analyses of 887 Child Behavior Treatment Plans implemented by staff of the institute for Behavior Change between 2007 and 2010 on June 28th.  They found that over 75% of the Plans were associated with positive changes in child behavior and noted that all plans studied were completed in one year or less.  Children with Autism spectrum disorders accounted for more than 500 of the treatment records studied; more than 200 had ADHD as the primary disabling condition.  Without a Control Group, it is not possible to claim that these Plans caused the improvements in child behavior that were documented, but the corroboration of previous findings, and the extremely large data base strongly indicates that BHRS is a promising treatment practice for children with ASD, ADHD and other serious behavioral challenges.  The research was presented at the prestigious bi-annual meeting of the Training Institutes in Washington, DC on July 16, 2010
